I am the fourth child of seven, and the only son of Jerry and Rita (Urban) Bline. I was baptized at Saint Paul Church (Akron) and spent all of my childhood years in Summit County with my parents and family who first taught me what it means to love God in the context of family. I went to Holy Family School (Stow) through part of fourth grade, then to Immaculate Heart of Mary (Cuyahoga Falls). I began public school in fifth grade and graduated from Cuyahoga Falls High School (Class of 1980-Yeah!). At that time my family moved to Canal Fulton (where most of them still live...only 15 minutes away from) as I began my undergraduate work in Child Life at the University of Akron (Graduated 1985). I worked at Saint Luke\'s Hospital in Cleveland for over seven years as a Child Life Specialist.

Then in January of 1993 I entered Saint Mary Seminary for the Diocese of Cleveland. I was ordained on the Feast of Saint Joan of Arc (May 30) in 1998, and began my first assignment as an associate pastor at the nurturing Church of Saint Clare (Lyndhurst) with the perfect first and formative \"Melchizedek\" pastor, Fr. S. J. Klasinski. After five glorious years I was transferred to the vibrant and supportive parish family of Saint Barnabas (Northfield) for four years with the ever inviting and reason-to-love-priesthod, Fr. Charlie Diedrick. I was assigned to Saint Francis de Sales Parish as a parochial vicar in 2007 under the shepherding of Fr. Schleicher (who actually taught my mother in school)...what an awesome blessing! When he retired in August 2008 I became the parish\'s Administrator until November 23, 2009 when Bishop Lennon assigned me as their third pastor.
Pax!

Parochial Vicar

I was ordained a Roman Catholic priest by Bishop Richard Lennon on May 16, 2009 at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist in Cleveland. I have one younger brother Michael who lives and works at the University of Notre Dame and two loving parents Julian and Stephanie who live in Framingham Massachusetts. I was baptized at Saint Mary's Parish in Wooster and spent most of my childhood living in Mentor with my parents and brother who taught me the sacrificial meaning of God's love. I attended Catholic school all my life and graduated from Notre Dame Cathedral Latin High School in 2000. With the help of my parents and teachers I believed God was calling me to be a priest and entered Borromeo College Seminary and John Carroll University. After graduating from Borromeo and John Carroll in 2004 with a degree in philosophy I began my graduate studies for the priesthood at Saint Mary Seminary in the Diocese of Cleveland. I began my first assignment as parochial vicar here at St. Francis de Sales on June 9, 2009. I am so blessed and excited to be serving alongside our young and energetic pastor Father G. David Bline and our wise shepherd, pastor emeritus Father Schleicher.
Peace!

Fr. James R. Schleicher
2nd Pastor

Born in Chicago to Viola and William Schleicher, Fr. Schleicher was the middle child. He had two siblings: an older brother and a younger sister. He was blessed to have his widowed grandmother (Isabelle Dorsey) live with his family. His grandmother attended daily mass and he went along. Soon he became a server. His faith continued to grow while he attended Christ the King where he was nurtured by the Sisters of Mercy. His family moved to Long Island, New York where he entered the high school seminary, Immaculate Conception Preparatory in the Diocese of Brooklyn. The next family move brought Father to the Cleveland area, but to attend the minor seminary he had to attend Sacred Heart in Detroit. Later he attended St. Mary\\\'s Major Seminary from which he was ordained on December 18th, 1954. There were 27 young men in that class.

His first assignment was St. Mary\\\'s of Akron where he was mentored by Fr. Ted Bedell who became a close friend. Other assignments were St. Bernard\\\'s , St. Bartholmew\\\'s, and St. Sebastian\\\'s where he would meet Fr. Charles Byrider, pastor and role model for Father who would later come to live at St. Francis de Sales . Father was appointed pastor of St. Francis de Sales in 1974 and considered himself fortunate to have the founding pastor, Fr. Francis Diederich living with him. Fr. Schleicher remained pastor until he retired in 2008. His love for the Eucharist and love for the priesthood continued to strengthen him as he continued to serve the St. Francis community as pastor emeritus in residence until he was given his long awaited day of glory when he returned to the Father on February 23, 2010. We thank God for sending us such a Shepherd!
